Well this was our first year missed. Hoping to get up there on ice for the 2022 season. If the border is still open, what are the odds that we need to live in the same household to rent a bungalow? Where would I find that out?

I'm would assume you'll need a Vax. passport then it will be business as usual.

Here is some info on the requirements for crossing the border. The woman that owns the island in front of my place got the wrong test and had to scramble in Bufallo to get the right one.
https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/serv...a-covid-19.html

As for what the outfitters will be able to do info on that can be found at the link below. Of course talking directly to an outfitter will most likely yield the best info. Also with 2 and a half months till ice fishing opens the requirements will most likely change by then.

Hope this helps.

For a US citizen to travel to canada currently you need;

Both Vaccines with the CDC record card
A recent covid test within 72 hours of travel
Fill out the arrivecan form online (google arrivecan online, make sure you check discretionary travel as your reason). You will get a receipt instantly with your registration number.

Once you have those three things its is effortless to travel. It is likely these restrictions will only relax before ice season unless we have another outbreak.

A mask for travel is mandatory in all airports.

We have had friends/family travel here several times in the last month without any issues. The story was the same, basically like normal travel as long as you can show the right paperwork.

I hate to think that with all this fuss about a new variant that the health department is going to over react and limit our new found freedoms . It would be a shame if this seasons ice fishing will be negatively impacted. Let's hope for the best.

Hoping for the best. We’re booked up for Jan, so they need to chill for 5 and a half weeks!

There's a new Fish Tax on Nippissing this year you should be aware of...

For every fish you catch you have to deliver a nice cold beer to the guys in the nearest hut!

Let's change the rule to a beer for every keeper. Otherwise a 24 pack might not last the day.

If the slot size changes, that could be a high number as well.

I only trade beer for fish I can eat, no taxation without representation.
