I use that access point "X" every year (esp. early and late ice), but have never seen one of those dawgs out there...was this a new toy you got? I am assuming that you fish out of X quite often as well. Will look out for it if I get a chance to fish there this year. Is the hut city already set up in the usual spots? The bigger question....how was the fishing?
Yes. There are about 5 permanent huts there now.
Ice is at least 7" - I was out the other day with my daughter. The bass bite was on fire.

Tight Lines.
Thanks skydiveguy. Yes, there can be a very good bass bite but because they are now OOS, I will move and look for less bass and more panfish unless the crappie or sunfish bite was really good (then I downsize bait so bass may tend to ignore the bait while the panfish are still just as or even more interested). There is also a decent chance of hooking onto a musky...have had that happen a few times but I almost always lose my lure (due to very light line for panfish and small spool on the micro reels). Good luck out there.

Just purchased the snowdog in December. This will be my fourth year fishing this area on Chemong.
I saw the Husky but opted for the Snowdog instead.
Okay that makes sense if you only got that machine in December....some years, I fish that area a great deal so was surprised, I haven't seen that machine out there yet. Any reason, you chose the Snowdog over the Husky? Not in the market for one anytime soon but always good to keep up with new toys just in case. Do they cost less, better quality, etc.? Made in Canada is usually a good selling point to me but at the same time, they have to be pretty decently made.

Hey Flukes,
The week before - the panfish bite was awesome - came home with a few for the pan.
The bass were super aggressive (using panfish sized bait) on everything we put down the hole!
Saw a few walleye on camera too - but the panfish were SUPER picky.

I've just put a deposit on a Snowdog from CatShack - I started building one a few years ago however I lost interest and sold it all off. I have a snowmobile but am tired of storing it (in my garage) It takes up so much space, add in a sticker every year and insurance, it's not worth the $$ in my opinion for the use it gets. AND, the snowdog has reverse!!! (my snowmachine doesn't)
So - I blame both of you for the $$ spent (at least that's what I'll tell my wife).
Hopefully @Krashed I'll see you out there and we can drag race!

I won't deny it, the Husky is just an ugly bare bones machine. It's also made in Russia at Pchel Motors (right above Mongolia)
The snowdog is just all around a more ergonomically designed machine with a lot of solid design changes over the years.
I'll likely be switching to north of the causeway once things tighten up a bit more. Hut city is getting way too busy and dangerous for my liking.

Thanks for the info KRASHED and congrats on your purchase skydiveguy. Good to know and maybe something for the future - would like to avoid all the issues with licensing, etc., etc., etc. Something simple, easy to maintain and small enough to store....would be amazing if they came out with an electric version. I agree about he hut city. I try to avoid weekends or times when people tend to have free time but COVID has changed "normal" busier times and there seems to be no predictability in people behaviours anymore.

There’s is a nice crack from shore to shore down in the south.
Edit: went and checked the crack out today. There’s a big section of open water because of this crack making it dangerous to cross further north. Lots of machines out now though.
