Fishing Regs, Interpretation of Zone 14

Since I don't hard water fish, I'm thinking May...already.
If I read the regs correctly, Walleye opens in Zone 14 on May 1st, in Zone 15 it opens the 3rd Saturday of May.
My questions is, if I want to fish anhy of the rivers flowing into Georgian Bay (Zone 14), at what point does it change from being Zone 14 to Zone 15?

I couldn't find anything in the regulations on this.

River mouth point to point usually unless posted.

Not in those zones but an example is the Beaver river boundary from the lake is posted.

Careful guys , here on the Notty for some unknown reason the river mouth extends up to the first bridge ?? Don't understand and yes I would present my case in court

I've seen a map somewhere where all the boundary zones of the river mouths are shown, maybe someone could post it to alleviate someone getting in the brown stuff.

In Waubaushene we use the the bridge on highway 69 as the border of 14 and 15.....major difference being that the limits are different for most species. On the whole on the East side of the bridge most limits are double. Going by the bridge will give you some grace as the lower limits are to the West of the bridge.

I think alot of zoning uses the first bridge, given theres a bridge within a reasonable distance from the major body of water. Same here on lake ontario. Most zone cutoffs I know are the first bridge.

Google “Fish ON-Line”. The map shows the zones and you can zoom in to see exactly where one zone ends and the adjacent zone begins.

I was surprised Zone 14 extends all long way past the bridge at Waubaushene. It looks like it encompasses almost the whole bay, well east of Hwy bridge.

That would be a change from previous years and if it extends into Matchedash Bay it would reduce the limits there and change everything.....I will check that and think that I will find it at the bridge and that Matchedash Bay is still Zone 15.

Even the ministry and OPP sit just to the West of the bridge when checking vessels.

OK I just checked and for one thing I wish the ministry would come up with a narrower pencil but the line smudges all of the Matchedash Bay Area right to the Coldwater River mouth and that is a change from previous. So limits on all the species in Matchedash Bay have been cut in half by doing that......I willl need to educate our park fisherman on that so they do not get snagged by the ministry for not seeeing the update.

I checked that area a few years ago for rainbow fishing and it looked like the G bay zone continued up the river quite a bit

Thanks for putting me close to the detail I needed to see Woodsman but Zone 15 does not cover Matchedash Bay and the coldwater River but I went to the same series of map to Zone 16 and the detail is as Knuguy said.....it takes in Matcedash Bay and goes well up both arms of the Coldwater River. Look at this map and go to detail section 5.....to see it.

Now I would like to know when that actually changed as Knuguy also said he looked at that a few years back.

I am glad you found that. I had lots of trouble finding it back then---must have been at least 5 years ago.
