nice little unit to save the walk wish it was cheaper about 2800.00 but still cheaper than a snowmobile and easier to store. would like to see how easy it pulls a hut with gear in it
Unit is a snow dog

Nice piece of kit there!
I’ve never seen this type before. Is this homemade, snowdog, or other brand?

The appeal of these units is that they are small enough (at least some of them are) to not require a trailer and all the other support gear of a snowmobile. There are lots of manufacturers (NEVA, Taiga, Snowdog, etc) now as well as a ton of DIY projects out there. The problem has been that the cost nearly doubles in canada for the snowdog brand (most popular) but now that there is competition I think lots of people will choose something like this because it can fit into a van or station wagon(ish) sized car and some will even fit into a large trunk. From a flexibility point of view, these systems are also used year round for hauling , getting through swampy areas, etc..

Snowmobiles are plentiful, but currently overpriced due to covid craziness. Ultimately if you have the ability to tow a trailer the snowmobile makes some sense as it is faster, can be better in many kinds of conditions but ultimately its a winter vehicle only.

Another + is you don’t have to register them or have them insured. I didn’t like having to have insurance on my sled year round just to use it a few times in Jan and feb.
