pintle hitch adapter for pelican sled?

does anyone know if there is a conversion or adapter piece for pelican/otter sled hitches that work with pintle style snowmobile hitches?

The pintle hitch on my sled is 5/8" and the hitch on my pelican is 1/2".

I don’t understand - a half inch pin goes in a 5/8 hole

Generally on snowmobiles, you just line up the holes and drop in a pin. If you have a diffferent set up, how about using a drill to open up the pelican sled hole to 3/4

Remember when 'mericans thought a 1/4 pounder was bigger than 1/3 pounder, ya know 4 is bigger than 3, lol.

My sled has a pintle hitch or J hitch. its 5/8", the sled is 1/2" opening. 5/8" doesn't fit into 1/2" as 5/8 is larger than 1/2" lol. You can't use a regular tractor pin with it.

Trip to P/A and get a 11/16ths just to give the extra clearance, don't forget to make sure the shank is no more than 1/2 inch on the bit otherwise it won't go into your drill chuck.

drill out the pelican hitch to 3/4

Thanks guys, I’ll see if that’ll work. Those drill bits ain’t cheap.

Burn it out with a torch then or use a round file.

Die grinder or dremel

Buy a turn buckle or one of those oval shaped turn buckle things, one to the sled the other to the hitch, like a link in a chain.

If you use a shackle with a pin that fits in the 1/2” hole on your pelican sled, the body of the shackle will fit into the pintle .
Easy to hook up and remove.

This might work - if it's the swivel type where it has 2 holes for the pin thru a U-shaped piece of metal just turn it sideways and either use the pin you have or put in a 1/2" bolt and nut. If the distance between the U piece isn't wide enough, spread it out wider.

If the pintle hitch won't fit (too wide) or snags on the U piece you could remove the swivel part of the hitch and replace it with a large "eye" bolt that will slip onto the pintle if you can find one that big.

If that doesn't work, cut the U piece off and weld a ring on the end instead.
