Thursday morning fishing was almost a copycat of Wednesday with me catching 3 pike, 2 - 23" and 1 which we may have kept but it decided to self release himself before I got a measure on it (was approx 25") and a few perch. Hubby caught the big one of the day at 31" which we released by our decision.
Went out again for a try at evening walleye with the owners of the cottages. We got out around 6:45 and fished until 9 pm. They are more comfortable driving the boat at night so it was a treat to be out past dusk. It was a gorgeous evening and didn't even need a jacket on it was so warm. Walleye didn't want to cooperate again but I was the lucky one again with three fish caught. First was a small perch, next was a 1lb rock bass and the last I thought for sure was a monster. It fought just as hard as the 32" pike I caught earlier in the week and I was sure hoping it was a walleye or pike. It was dark so I couldn't really make out what it was when we got it closer to the boat but knew it wasn't a pike and looked like a walleye. When we finally netted it, to my surprise and everyone elses, it was a channel catfish. We didn't have a measuring tape with us but estimated it to be about 24". Took a few pictures and put it back in. The owner caught a rock bass as well but hubby and owners wife were out of luck.
This morning we got out and caught a few more pike and hubby lost a monster that broke off before we could see it. Hubby is on par the last couple of days in just catching one fish unfortunately but at least he is happy to get the one. I caught a few perch and a small largemouth as well. We called it a day for fishing today as there are suppose to be thunderstorms moving through in the afternoon.

Yes, channel cats are pure muscle, I had one on once that fought forever.. One of the best battles ever, I also thought it was a big walleye since I caught it at dusk on a lure.. Yes, big rock bass bite at dusk too, they have those big red eyes that are good for low light hunting.. Thanks for the fishing report and sounds like you are having a great time, with lots of fishing time...
