Given the super cold temps last night, is the ice safe at Gilford in Cooks Bay?

On a different forum I seen a video of a guy studding a hole close to shore off guillotine. It looked to be about 2 inches that wan on Jan 4th. I would use a spud if going out. I don't fish that area so I don't have any personal reports.

Usually around the same time....all depends on the season. But if headed out be sure to use your judgment and have all your safety gear.

Well said!

Simcoe is a huge body of water and ice is never safe there. I know every year people falling through on thin ice in the cracks in the middle of winter when ice is more than 10-12" around and machines are zooming around on the ice.

Be careful and know what you are doing.

I was out today on cooks , 3.5 inches I was on and that was the south end , I’d be careful right now especially as you get closer the main lake.
