Mr heater big buddy on sale

I got canadian tire to price match!
Warning - This model doesn't have the fan built in like the old Big buddy version.
(I never used it because i couldnt be bothered to buy D batteries anyways, so less weight built in)

is the big buddy heater worth the extra $$$ from the single element buddy heater? I run mine on a 5lb tank and it has always worked well no complaints....also use a small pop up shelter and shovel snow around the base to insulate it.

Only on very cold days do I find I could use some extra heat and have been on the fence with upgrading as the current one works well.

Any feedback is appreciated.

The big buddy

9000 btu on med heat, lasts 4 hrs on the two bottles.
18,000 btu on high heat but requires two 1 lb tanks to run high heat. Lasts 2 hours on the two bottles. The higher setting is great for quickly warming the hut and those really cold days.

I use a small fan with rechargeable batteries to move the heat around, makes a big difference.

The big buddy is definitly worth it imo. Especially when on sale. I primarily use it for ice fishing. In my little pop up it's plenty hot even without the fan. I think if you were to use it in larger rooms like garage or shed you'd probably want a fan to move the air around.

A 20lb tank should easily last you a season. I don't go often so my 20lber has lasted me through 3 seasons as a weekend warrior with a few spring camping trips thrown in.

I'm gonna look into getting one of those woodstove fans to use.
