Drilling holes using a cordless drill, What torque is required?

Does anyone know the torque requirements for drilling holes using an electric drill?
I have new 20V Max Dewalt Drill/Driver with a torque I think about 400. Not sure what torque the 20V Impact/Drill has.
Would either of these work?

I have the cheaper desalt 20v. I have small 2ah batteries. Lasts about 4 holes. Low gear tho. Fast is not always better. I usually bring two batteries out for the day

400 Inch-LB? Forget it! You need at least 700 Inch-LB

If with DeWalt drill, get Model DCD999 or DCD996

If with Milwaukee drill, get M18 FUEL Model number 2804-20 or 2704-20, both have 1,200 Inch-LB torque.

if you don't have a high amp drill but an 18 or20 v ,don't buy a new one , I have used a 20 v 2.5 amp Mastercraft for 8 years , take extra batteries , I keep them in a small soft side cooler with a hand warmer , low speed , and yes ,about 4 holes per battery , also made a round disc , 10 inches out of 1/2 inch plywood , took the adapter off, drilled a hole to slide over the shaft , put back the adapter , prevents from losing your auger down the hole ,

I use the brushless 20v De-Walt dcd777, it doesn’t have high torque but drills 8inch holes no problem.

hmm--I got 7-8 holes out of a 2AH batt a couple of years ago when the ice was really thiick, almost to the pt where an extension was needed.

Anybody know how the 24v Kobalt does with the 4ah battery's, supposedly has 1200inch lbs??

I recall I once watched a youtube video comparing several cordless drills including this kobalt drill, and this kobalt drill performs very well, and is a lot cheaper than those "famous" name brand ones.

Dewalt drills with the lower torque will work, maybe one season before they burn out.

I have it, 6" inch auger, used it last year, amazing, no hesitation at all. Most I had to drill was 10 holes and still full battery when I was done. That was 6" ice min.

Good drill, only issue is not many tools for that platform so if it's for ice fishing, great drill.

Their tool line up is great, except it's mainly in the US. I really wish Lowes brought the full lineup here so I can buy more to run one line of batteries.

No issues with the Kobalt. Only used it last season and 1 day this season though.

I use my de Walt lower torque drill a lot beyond ice fishing, it’s on its third ice fishing season now….when she fails I’ll let you all know, to add more to the conversion. At the moment I think The 5ah batteries will wear out first. It’s a good conversation, I’m not convinced higher torque is necessary as I don’t bind up in the hole at all unless the battery is wore down. More selling points needed so I can tell my wife yet another tool is needed.

3rd yr on my brushless ryobi now, still working well on both my 6 and 8 inch.
