Anyone know where to get a good deal for a new 5lb refillable propane tank? With the ongoing inflation and jump in price for non-refillable 1lb tanks, a refillable 5 pounder seems to offer a better solution for fueling the propane heater. Especially if you don't want to pull around a 20lb tank.
Doe anyone know whether a 5lb refillable has the same size thread as a 20lb tank? I.e. would my 20lb to 1lb hose work for it?

I’ve been searching myself with no luck. 5lber from Canadian tire is no longer available. Next size to that is 11lb. Even on flame king website is no longer selling. Checked online everywhere with no luck. Canadian tire 11lb $63.99

I agree on the crazy costs of the 1 pound tanks being outrageous. I bought an 11 pound tank three years ago and what a cost saving. $12 to fill it, and I can get 24 hours of heat with my Big Buddy heater. I put a splitter on mine so i could use my cooking stove as well as the heater, but for the little cost of the splitter and hoses the payback is a nobrainer.

I like the idea of the splitter. I have used a 5 lb tank for a while they are awesome they take less room and they last. I got mine from canadian tire. My dad has the 10 lb, his tank is not as wide as a 20 lb so same story just more weight and height.

Most of my friends that I camp and fish with refill their green 1 lb tanks from a full size 20 lb tank. Just need a cheap adapter/kit that you can buy online. I recently bought one and started doing it myself.

There was 2 In Owen Sound yesterday, none today. CT shows 1 in Fort Frances, 15 in Steinbach MB, 13 in Gatineau Le Plateau, QC. There could be more places. Best thing to do is go to your local CT and enquire there, they may bring one in.

also remember folks - a new tank will need to be purged prior to being filled 1st time. This is only prior to the first fill then you are golden for the life of the tank.
