Well, the fish made it tough on us during this second nip trip of the year, but always making up the difference is Garnet & Cara Lee along with their amazing crew. They are all awesome and the system they have in place to service so many huts is top notch. We are always put on fish too, from the time we got organized, I was marking fish all weekend inside and around the hut, but for the most part, while they were very curious, the bite was barely on. They hung around and teased us till the time we left tho! 😅
This was a new group I took up (6 of us) and I guess you can tell they aren’t forum members considering I landed 18 fish and they got 3, 2, 1, 1 and 0 😇. They didn’t move from their bunks though, I’m all over the place in and out of the hut, portables, tip-ups, etc. I can’t sit still, and I get so pumped to be out there that I barely sleep.
We were in the vicinity of lonely island, 32 fow.
8 Walleye (7 under and 1 keeper just under 45cm by 1mm) 12 Perch 4 Cisco 1 SM Bass
We managed to have ourselves a little fish fry the Sunday night which was great to be able to get a taste of the almighty walleye and some perchy’s.
I went through the tackle box and used everything from top to bottom and the only thing that was working for me was a 1/4 Wonderbread Buckshot and a 1/8 Wonderbread Kastmaster tungsten. I didn’t have luck with any of the other techniques and lures that have really produced in the past. I don’t think anyone caught a single fish on hook/minnow.
but again, had a blast out there and we have SSIC and their first class accommodations & customer service to thank for it.
Hope we can get up there again this year, if not - pumped for 2023.
Good luck out there ladies and gents, tight lines to all.

and this is the first time we brought ‘Sequence’ up to the hut and it was a HIT. Absolutely recommend this game to anyone headed up, all the other card/dice games we would normally play didn’t even get unpacked.

Cheers, CC! The flasher will definitely take the experience to the next level. I passed my electronics around amongst the group and it’s safe to say they’re all more than likely online shopping for one for themselves right now. I can’t imagine fishing without one now.

Cheers Longshank! I really am relatively to this, summer fishing never really appealed to me like ice fishing did the first time I got out in 2018, and ever since I’ve been riding the passion, so I’m eager to learn.
I do need a barometer, any recommendations on one? Looks like TRAC Outdoors makes one with mixed reviews, other guys seem to use the weather stations. I want to get better at leveraging the conditions and knowing when to fish shallow vs. deep and ultimately just give myself a better chance at epic outings.
