60 feet of water on a minnow with a tip-up 35 1/2 inches released right away. Daughter fought it like a pro. Too fast out of the water for that epic pic, but fish survival was her only concern once we netted her and slammed the floor shut!

Thanks, was a great reward seeing it swim away strongly, would hate to have seen that fish die. Truly blessed here with 4 female fishers in the family, with a strong sense of respect for our blessed province

That is a beautiful trout. You dont always see those big girls around unless you are on a lake like simcoe where they are more common. I got a 36” on simcoe 2 years ago and it was a battle. Nice job on the quick release, she will make more quality fish hopefully. Thanks for sharing

Yes sir, Slot limit is 40-55 cm no keeping, and only one line allowed. I don't know how long they have had a slot limit there, but, most of the fish caught are within that limit or below. It's one of those "hard hit, tired old lakes" to some. Others don't like catch and release, or one line rules, but after living in the Kawartha's for 30 years, an fishing a lot of lakes around Haliburton/bancroft, area. We have much better luck, consistentcy and size of fish in this big popular cottage lake, which still holds good populations of natural non stocked Lake Trout. The lake is one of the most utilized with commercial operations too, but I thank proper management for this fantastic alternative to Simcoe. Ya get skunked somedays, other days 5 an hour, really enjoy it and we walk to the hut about 3-400 yards tops.
