Hello,

My family is heading up to Lake Muskoka for a few days in late February and we are renting a cottage.

I having trouble finding hut operators that are open.

1. Does anyone have any recommendations for a hut operator in the area?

2. We could also just venture out on our own (two boys, 8 and 11). We are a willow beach/pine island areas (just each of touchstone resort).

Any friendly advice would be appreciated.

Tom

Hey. There is some decent opportunities for Walleye and Lake trout around there. Find that 30 or 40 foot area around a shoal and you should hook up with some fish. Minnows on a jog or buckshot spoon. There are also monster pike around there.

Look at the Touchtone Resort Live Camera. You have see huts in the distance. That's a good start. Then look at Navionics.

The live camera is great. I am very supposed there is open water at the dock. Any issues/concerns with the ice?

Touchstone has a bubbler at the dock so it will never freeze.

I was on Lake Rosseau yesterday and there was 15 inches of solid ice. Slush in some spots. Like he said they have a bubbler. Lots of cottage with boat houses have them too, so stay away from those area's. Otherwise the ice is good and consistent this year.

Thanks everyone!

Primetime is booked up so I will give the bay a shot and bring up my hut.

I honestly have never seen a bubbler before, I will avoid any dock areas like that.

I typically do hard water fishing for perch on Simcoe. I will pick up a 28 inch medium action rod given the larger species.

Would love to catch a walleye (never have). Any other bait/lure tips? I downloaded navionics and will target 30-40 foot depths.

There are fast drops to that depth very close to where we will be staying.
