With the new changes to the live bait rules (minnows) that you must buy them within your zone is getting on my nerves. If an heading to Lake Rosseau for some fishing and would like to bring some minnows along. I plan to arrive early, like 6am, but I am unaware of any bait shops up there that open up that early or are close. Coming from the north GTA.
Anyone know any local places to get minnows up there? Suggestions?

Good luck. Ullzwater, Huronia, and Glen Orchard dont open any earlier than 7am. Maybe you can try calling to arrange early pick up? New regs are challenging

Bill (owner: Bait, Tackle, & More in Glen Orchard) has his cell # on his business card and told us to call ahead and he'd open early for us. It never hurts to ask (as they say). Cell# 705 346-2778. He charges $10/ scoop; Huronia was $15+ with tax/dozen.

I ended up calling Ullswater Bait on Friday. The guy just said to call him 15 minutes before I arrived. Picked up minnows at 630am yesterday. Was a cold start. Was -28*c when we grabbed the minnows. They worked well. Picked up 10+ lakers and 2 solid Walleye's from Rosseau. Its all about exploring a new shoal. Never know what to expect. Rosseau had about 6 to 8 inches of snow and slush in some spots.

Hey thanks for the report. I had a few reports this season of walleye being caught. Good sign of things to come? Last time I purchased from there I forgot to get a receipt. I wonder how strict the mnr is enforcing this.

Lol, I've gone out of my way multiple times now to get bait in the right bmz. Forgot to get a receipt every time. Guess my brain isn't fully functional when I get up at 330 am. Or I'm just too excited to get on the I've. I'm almost surprised the bait shops already automatically give them out.
