Hi folks,
HD.ca has what seems to be a great deal on a set of 18v batts. However these are just labelled as Li-Ion, not "Hyper Lithion" Is there a significant diff between the 2 or is it mostly just "Hype"---TIA

I believe its rebranding marketing scheme. I have a 12v set I use for sheetmetal work, I purchased a new set as the charger failed. It was branded hyper, I have not noticed any difference. I may be wrong though.

All lithium ion cells are basically the same construction, they have the same core voltage, and the same form factor(s) by design. The difference for this 'hyper' version is probably the way that they are packaged and probably a better battery protection circuit. But, they should basically work the same, there most likely is no difference in the cells themselves unless they went out of their way to source cells from two different places (generic vs panasonic for instance).
Probably for day to day use it will come down to just hype and you won't be able to tell the difference.

I just watched a YouTube video the other day and the guy was saying be careful what lithium you buy because some do not have the amp hours they say they do , for instance the marcum brute 10amp is different than the 7 and 12 amp , he said only the 10 actually gives you the true amp hours. I’ll try to find the video not sure if it applies here.

Thx guys. I decided to go ahead with the purchase. There were none in the stores near me. My fishing bud checked 2 stores near him that said 'limited stock'.A couple of phones calls revealed that they were VERY limited i.e, none, zero, zip. Oh well, maybe next time In an effort to keep the customers bamboozled they have now gone from "Hyper" to "Max"!
