Stopped in at the Credit on my way home and caught 2 of these within 10 min of each other...Excuse the dumb question, but are they Atlantic Salmon?

Cheers

Picture is a bit blurry . Form what I can tell I believe it is a Atlantic Salmon.

As from my understanding I also believe they are to be realised if caught in a River.

Only in the Open lake you can harvest them out on a boat . I remember reading this last

year. Not sure if the regs have changed. I will check online .

Agreed, probably an Atlantic Salmon. And yes, they are closed year round on the Credit. If caught, to be released immediately.

No worries...they both went back. Credit vcty of Georgetown.... (by a bridge...lol)good till Sept 30th. I'm glad a few other guys told me cause I thought it was a brown...I don't wanna get in any trouble and thankfully others were there to tell me. They are not like the Atlantic Salmon from Newfoundland thats for sure.

Cheers

...oh yeah, and how heavy would you guesstimate it to be? I figured maybe 4 pounds? Maybe a bit more??

One more thing, you should report those fish to the CRAA or MNR. They are interested in all such events. Here's some reading for you, probably explains why they are unlike those in the open ocean.

As for the weight, you're probably close but I'm no expert.

Nice fish and they certainly look like atlantics. I caught 3 about 5 lbs. each in front of the credit a week ago in 35 FOW. The screen was full of them , i guess they were getting ready to run up to Georgetown.

As mentioned , pic is blurry, but for sure not a brown as it has a forked tail.

Most likely an Atlantic.......

We got a grand total of 3 of these while trolling lake O this summer, compared to well over 1000 steelhead/salmon at last count.

still a very dismal show with all the funds and time put inot stocking these fish.

Will be interseting to see how many returns tally up for Atlantics this fall

I caught the 2 Atlantic's after my night shift...around 7:30 a.m.
My buddy went down that late afternoon and he caught one too...that was 3 that day between us both.

Shankster...looks like a couple of charters, but in the spring. The comments on the color. especially the taste this year kinda shied people away. I see prob more than a couple in the future though...looking forward to it for sure!!

I thought I read a post with someone, can't remember who or where, commenting on the "taste" this time of year and the color of the flesh....Am I mistaken?

Someone asked about the cplor and or taste of spawning salmon verus spring summer salmon. I responded that in my opnionion, the spring summer fish tates much better.

as the 'stagers' enters rivers/streams and begin the spawning cycle they are in the early stages of dying and eventually decomposing. This is typicall of all pacific salmon

But then again, many people seem to forget that there are plenty of 1-3 year old bright chrome salmon still roaming the lake
