Drive on cooks bay?

Plan to take my kids fishing Saturday in cooks bay. Are vehicles currently driving on the ice or will have to find ride out? Thanks in advance

I had to help an SUV that was stuck out there last Friday night. We had to shovel him out and drag him back to shore with a quad. There’s enough ice 14” but watch out for pressure cracks and slush pits. Bring a shovel if you decide to take a vehicle out there. Stay safe.

I think walking or getting a ride is easier than shovelling out an suv or towing it out of a slush patch but to each their own. I wouldn’t be taking my kid out on simcoe in a vehicle, I don’t even do it myself. The cracks are so unpredictable I even wear my float suit on my sled even if I’m travelling the same route I know it 99% safe. Hut operators on Nippising aren’t even letting people drive out on their own anymore due to all the nonsense of people getting stuck and needing a tow.

obvious, you don't wish to drive out on a vehicle, but when it's plus 12 inches and bombis are running, i will drive out with my 4x4 on certain locations on the lake.....been doing it for 50 years and got stuck once for 10 minutes

I guess I should have said some hut operators aren’t letting some guests drive out on their own and are insisting on providing the transport. I don’t think encouraging people to drive a vehicle on the ice is responsible but to each their own right.
