The 50km gusts weren’t enough to keep us off the ice, and as it turned out the wind wasn’t much of a factor, it certainly didn’t feel like 50km and although it was howling all night, we had the hut strapped down good. What was a factor was the rain during the long walk out (we started our walk out @430pm), which continued and for a while and was dripping into the hut… lol… a bit of adversity but a small price to pay for such a great time. Temp ended up dropping a bit and things really came together.

Friday night we caught a handful of cisco before playing some games and calling it a night. Saturday we woke up, brewed some coffee and got our lines down. We fished a hot bite in the morning before the temp dropped and pressure started to rise so we packed up at 3pm to start our heel toe trek back.

We kept 25 of probably 40, my sons first overnighter and he just can’t say enough about how much fun he had. We got home and cleaned 3lbs of fillets.

Got him a little 4” Finlander knife and he’s gotten so good at it that I’ve been relegated to a skinning role haha. Great times.

Cheers fellas 🍻

These were an addition this trip and they worked out really well. Just need a few more packs of the flooring from Walmart and will have enough to cover the full hut 👍🏼👍🏼

The test was the young lads feet staying warm in these slippers which combined to save him from his wet boots predicament.

Great fish camp report!
Looking forward to doing an overnighter soon, and also can’t wait for the boy to get a bit older so he can come out too. Congrats on the perch and the memories.

Great report and results. What size or model is your Eskimo hut ? Did you bring cots and sleeping bags? Don't see cots in pictures. Thanks for any reply.

Cheers sb! Yeah he’s 13 now and this year is really clicking for him, happy that he’s able to enjoy it and that it’s a level we can connect on for many years to come, great memories for sure, good luck with your future adventures

Almost haha, there were three of us BUT once he gets on the beans, I’ll have him there to make me coffee and fillet my fish haha, 3 more years and he’ll be able to make beer runs too
