Had a great day out yesterday. Morning bite a little slow, marked plenty of herring, we got two nice lakers in the morning around 9am, missed a few, then it was quiet until around lunchtime we decided to try another spot for the afternoon. Tucked behind an island in the sun, it was balmy out! And a bonus, the fish were very aggressive in the afternoon. We limited out and were off the ice by 3pm. Today the meegs and golden Williams and other spoons landed all the fish... couldn’t even get a herring on the bug! Not even a bite on set lines with minnows. We fished 55-68fow near very steep drops, between islands in the channels. A great day to be out, on this very special lake. All fish were 19-26”, some chunkier than others. I did snap my rod on a hookset…. Going to have to give streamside a call.

Friday, glare ice…. Saturday, blowing snow and 2.5’ drifts, no slush…. Sunday 4-12” snow drifts and glare ice underneath, no slush at all. Great travel! And many fish. Here’s a pic of the eaters.

Hmm---nothing on the bugs, eh? Funny, dat! I am(or was?) really looking forward to trying mine for the first time. But lakers came to dance with the meegs. Do they take a long time to sink?
