I would be worried about slush coming this weekend.
I was on another lake in the area this past Saturday and it was unbelievably slushy.
After the warmer weather and the snowfall forecasted for the next two days I wouldn't personally try Joseph. But I know it's tempting...opener weekend.

Heading up Friday for opening weekend. Will check out the lake on Friday after the rain , snow and then cold weather coming. Hoping the cold weather will tighten it up a bit, but looks like wont be cold long enough.
HATE SLUSH, it makes for a difficult time with the snowmobile and wet feet.

Same thing every year. Watching the guys with the quads get stuck. They just chew up any previous snowmobile trails that have been made. Slush will only get worse once some holes are drilled...but I'll be there! About a 1 minute sled ride to my spot from the cottage.

My buddy and myself went to Joe, walked out on sled trail and then jumped of about 40 feet, everything was solid, no slush where we were lost 7 got 4 out all released for another day.

Ok so Lake Joe is all good for sled or ATV travel. 2-3” of hard pack snow and the odd 6” snow drift.
As for fishing I was with 3 friends. We landed 30 lakers between all four of us. I went 12/16 and kept these two for the table.
The morning was fast and furious with fish ready smashing baits. We had a mid day lull with the occasional fish coming in. Good news was the fish that did come in hit every single time. It was so good we were amazed when we marked a fish that didn’t hit. Several times we had fish hit and come unhooked and then turn and hit the bait again!! What an aggressive bite today. Just fantastic after a completely terrible ice fishing season all year for me.

wow---such a total contrast that the day we were up on that other Lake X and we just had window shoppers. I find that the majority are usually in that category. It makes one wonder 'why the diff?'

My usual spot. All caught in lures, no bait dead or alive. Lol
We fished anywhere from 90’ to 30’.
Secret 🤫 is to keep moving trying different depths.
We had another guy set up on the spot I really wanted to be on. He and his buddy left after drowning minnows from sunrise to 2:00. They also left a bunch of dead minnows and a beer can and some garbage. (I did clean it up) I let that area rest for 15 mins, then walked over sat down and dropped a lure in. I hit two lakers in a row. Lost the first but got a decent 19” fish on the second one.

Well done! My weekend got cut short...daughter got covid. Drove up to the cottage Friday night, woke up to "we have to leave, she has a fever" from the wife. Packed up and was on the road by 8am. Nasty ride home with the conditions. Brother inlaw and father inlaw got out for a bit Saturday an Sunday but resulted in 0 bites. Ah well thats fishing I guess. Hopefully make it back up this weekend after 5 day isolation.

Knuguy Don't feel bad. Mykola and I also had a lot of window shoppers and chasers on Sunday on my Lake X
Monday seemed to be a completely different story with the bite picking up
