Today I took the winter cover off the boat, got the lithium batteries on, tested all the subsystems, and got some equipment on the boat.
I'm looking to launch before Saturday and get it in the slip Saturday morning, I'm looking to be out there early morning to net the first fish of the season!
Who else is getting ready for the big day this Saturday??
I want pictures after everyone catches those awesome lunkers!

Went out last year on Opener, ate about 5lbs of those flies (not sure what they are called) it was so thick I couldn't see my fishing partner on the same boat.
It's been a year and I'm still cleaning those flies out of my boat. Its in all the nooks and crannies.

Haven't tried jigging for whitefish in open water. Do you find them on the same shoals as you do in the winter months or are they deeper? Thanks
You should be able to find them close - probably a little deeper now. It's been a cold spring, so they may still be fairly shallow (relatively speaking).

Looks like this coming Saturday per current weatherman (or weatherwoman:-)'s prediction, there may be "risk of thunderstorm" in the afternoon.. Well, fish from early in the morning till noon then.

Boat is officially launched and ready for Lake Trout opener on Saturday!!
We're both super excited and taking bets on who's netting the first one!
PS - Lots of float wood out there and random things in the lake. Make sure to take extra caution. The only reason we could see it was the lake was like glass out there - no waves.
