Hi all,
I'm heading to a north temagami area lake near the end of March. It's a lake that I've been to a few times and have been hit and miss on my search for walleye there. The best structure I've found is for prime time bites, a transition area from a deep hole that slowly tapers to a large 20 ft flat. Other than that, I've been struggling to get a consistent bite. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on structure I should be targeting that time of year. The lake at its deepest is about 120' and has a couple deep areas.

Area lakes all vary but the walleye in theory shouldn't be far during the day from your primetime spots. Late in March, if you know the spawning areas the walleye won't be far off. Don't be afraid to move deep, I just pulled a 25" walleye out of 68' yesterday... mind you I was targeting trout but it's not uncommon for me to find them in 40-50' consistently.

Thanks, I was thinking about trying deeper. Did you catch that walleye suspended in 68'? Trying to figure out if they are feeding on palegics like Cisco. I Figured trying a larger Williams jigging spoon or other palegic imitation 25-40' off bottom in deeper water. Has worked for me in georgian bay, but never tried it on this lake. Then again, ill be trying everything I can think of. That's fishing, change patterns until you find something that works, then repeat.

Hey nope, live shiner on the bottom looking for trout. I will admit, one of my better baits is a Rapala Rippin' Rap, fished fairly aggressively around structure - mid-lake humps, shoals, points, flats. The classic walleye areas always seem to produce multi-species for me. If you're marking and find it to be a tough slower bite, I find a smaller jigging shad rap with a minnow head on the treble works well with a subtle rocking motion.
