Ice Thickness, Rumours?

Hello gentlemen and ladies,
I have heard that there is open water at VB right at the end of Holden Road and where the ferry crosses. I understand that "no ice is safe ice", and I will spud my way out, but just looking for some facts.
Is there any truth to this?
I seen something on Facebook and I am not sure on the credibility of this post where they say it's open water.
