OMG! Can't believe the shape of that thing or that it was able to swim being so fat and round. It's like a globe. I have a gaff like the one you have - made it with a large salt water cod hook I had picked up from a fisherman out in the Bay of Fundy. Hope I get to break my gaff on a fish like that one day (but also land the fish too like you did).

I may be wrong, but that definitely was caught somewhere near a trout hatchery. Nice fish regardless

Hey Dave

Great catch.

Do you think it is a "Crocker" hatchery escaper?

I think those fish were "asexual" and just keep on growing.

Didn't someone catch one up near Manitoulin Island a number of years ago and it was over 40lbs.

No matter what, still a great catch.

Ralph

PS, just found this link.

https://www.canadian-sportfishing.com/40-lb...ulin-island-on/

Also saw reference to a 48lb Rainbow caught out west and it was a genetically engineered fish.

Folks, don't misunderstand me, I'm not tying to play down his catch, just trying to come up with an explanation for the size.

What an absolute beast….. no a pig! That’s a beast of a pig of a bow. Congrats!

Definitely agree it looks like an Aquacage fish…. Parry Sound? Could also see one like that coming out of a stocked back lake. I’ve seen some fat stocked trout.

Simply amazing!
Mount that thing!
