Making a 4 h drive to Nip for an annual trip, was wondering if people drive on the ice and how much snow is on the lake. Going out from North Bay, James St.
Thanks

Morning, I had the day off Thursday and went out for an hour last night. The ice is very thick over 2ft about 1km off shore.

I don't see anyone with pick ups on the ice on this side and there is a fair amount of snow cover.

Also be aware that we had a very large IMO pressure crack open up two weeks ago running from the pier up past kinsmen park about 1km off shore. I don't know ice conditions well enough to say what's safe and what's not but I do see people in snowmobiles taking a closer look before gunning it over.

Good luck and be safe.

Sorry, I tried to reply to your P.M. but it seldom works. Yes Sunset point. Lots of trucks pack it down nicely straight out.Thats your best bet
