After having missed last week, I was happy to get out today and try out a new spot with Knuguy. A short walk out onto the ice took us to 77 fow; four holes were quickly drilled, lines set out, and within about 20 minutes or so I felt some weight on my line, reeled up, and iced my first fish. Ummm... this looks like it might turn out to be a good day....
Well, of course, the fish soon disappeared after that so, a short time later, I picked up my gear and started drilling some more holes -- all to no avail. Not only were the fish not there but my sonar stopped cooperating -- even a couple of reboots didn't help.... More holes in a different location in 75', 72' and 62' but, again, no fish -- at least until early afternoon when my sonar inexplicably started working properly and the bite turned on. In a relatively short period of time, I landed four more fish, all from one hole at 72'.
Five for five. Yes, it was another good day out on a Muskoka lake that we pretty much had to ourselves -- well, with the notable exception of the five deer that crossed the lake about 500 metres to the north of us. It was one of those days when everything fell into place and made the long drive back home all the more worthwhile.
