Ate a 8-9 lb Simcoe laker once (a long time ago) and wouldn't do it again...edible but just not good enough to make it worth killing. For sure the smaller lakers from those and Algonquin lakes are pretty good table fare and agree that the smaller the better. It's likely a reflection of the smaller ones' prey...alot more plankton than greasy baitfish.
