Last year, I decided to try an underwater camera, but they were hard to find. I settled on an Aquaview 4.3 Micro. It fits nicely in your pocket, and it did make the experience more entertaining.
However, as we age and also when we have more people trying to look at it, the tiny screen was at times a bit awkward. I went to Bass Pro today and found the Aquaview 715c (7 inch screen) on sale for $399, and it comes with the remote camera panner. I'm pretty sure they were more costly last year, and the panner was extra. It is a big unit, though, so I 'm not sure if I will keep the old one or sell it. I plan on using them for open water was well. and the new one has a 75 ft cable.
I guess the chip crisis is reaching its end. They had plenty of them at the store.

Does anyone use these in the boat during the summer? I have a 3 year old that loves fishing but can get intermittently bored if fish aren't biting. I was thinking of getting one so he could see what's going on down below, but thought camera stability might be an issue, not to mention water clarity once pollen/algae start floating around.

Unless it's perfectly calm, the camera will yoyo up and down unless you let it sit on bottom.
3rd year using my Aquaview 715c and have rarely had this happen. If there's current you just need to make simple twisting adjustments maybe every half hour to hour in order to recenter on bait.
