Headed up on Friday morning. Met Nick in the parking lot and escorted us to our bungalow. It was just 2 of us this trip. I was up the last week of Jan my first trip. Man was it cold. Managed 28 walleye I think , with some keepers.
Watched the AFC/NFC Championship games in the hut. What a blast.
Anyhow, back to this past weekend.
We were out on the ice, setup and fishing before 10. Finally after a couple of hours my flasher shows signs of life. First fish, a nice jumbo perch. A little while later a few walleye ( one keeper)
From 3-9:30 my flasher was lite up like a Christmas tree. Ended the day with 35 eyes (4keeper) 1 perch and 1 herring.
Day 2 was colder and the wind was brutal. The flasher showed a constant parade of fish with only a couple being caught during the day. Try an outside line, bigger lures, smaller lures, just a minnow head. Tons of lookers but no takers until 6:45 ish. For about 2 hrs the walleye became very active and more aggressive.
Finished the night off with our 47 th walleye ( 7 keepers) 2 perch and 2 herring.
Sunday morning tallied 3 more walleye (2 keepers) and a perch
55 fish in all. 50 eyes ( 9 keepers) 3 perch and 2 herrings.
A huge thanks to Nick and Nikko, absolute great hosts.
See you boys next January.
