Hey Lake Nip enthusiasts,

What are the lake conditions currently?

-slushy
-frozen slush all bumpy
-some snow
-glare ice
-???

Is travelling this weekend from Lavase better in a sled or a quad?

Thanks

I did see a quad having one heck of a time in the slush last night, you can see the tracks in my other pic.

Maybe 3-5" of snow with a small crust of ice on top that you can sometimes stand on other times no. This is on the north shore though.

Slush under almost every step I take and when I drilled a test hole it was at least 18", 4" of white ice followed by that dark ice.

Sorry my first year and I don't know the proper names for the types of ice.

fisherman2280, don't be sorry you made a very good report. The black ice is the ice you want to see, it is the strongest. White ice is full of air bubbles and not strong. so you are talking over a foot of good ice which is pretty good.

Thanks for the reports guys.
Ended up taking the Skandik and there was no slush from cranberry marsh to south shore that I encountered. Just enough snow.

The fishing was terrible. Oh the wind.
