So I usually bring my tent inside and let it dry out before each time I go ice fishing. I am starting to notice that my otter lodge vortex huh, is starting to get slightly rusty poles. I was thinking I need to lube them up, so I went and used some Vaseline to cover the metal portion. Does anyone else have recommendations? I will try to air the fish and weed smells in the fall and I might spray it with some waterproof as well? Anything I could do more? It’s going on year 3

I clean the poles where they collapse and use wd40 dry lube to spray the poles where they intersect. It helps them collapse together easier. I also use parafin wax and rub it on the zippers to help lubricate the zippers yearly. I have used rust check on my snow mobile trailer after power washing it but like the earlier comment I might try it on exterior of poles as I have noticed slight rust as well. I have got an older (close to 10years) clam nanook 2 man and it still works great.

I use my bow wax on every zipper i have that goes outside, works great. I don't believe it is any special wax, just comes in a convenient covered stick.
