Hello fellow fishermen,

Are any of you still fishing? I was out last Friday at Cooks Bay and had a great time catching some perch around 10feet of water.

I believe we are getting two minus double digit days this coming Sunday and Monday. Wondering if there is still enough ice for one more trip early next week.

If anyone can share ice conditions that will be great.

Thanks.

Joe

Lady Simcoe told me to go home!

My last outing on Simcoe was March 16th when the ice was so soft and wet that my auger would cut out while drilling holes.

It's now time to get the boat ready for early spring.

I was out on Monday afternoon at the top end of the lake. There was about 14" of ice, but it was definitely getting soft. The shoreline was getting real sloppy.

I'm hopping it holds out for one more last trip on Saturday - we'll have to see how much rain and runoff we get. I'd imagine to busier access points might be more beat up.

Last outing on Simcoe was Friday Mar 18 out of Bolster and the ice was weakening. More than enough strength for machines but the melt water was percolating through the ice and not sitting on top - as I understand that's the beginning of the end! Shoreline was surprisingly good, the crack near shore was crossable, but only in one spot.

We hit Cooch-a-dinks on Sunday and the ice was in surprisingly good condition. 4" white on top and 14" min of solid black below.

We're hoping to fish Cooch one more time tomorrow but sure would appreciate if anyone has been out lately to confirm the ice as far as walking or taking ATVs.

I've been fishing for ice cubes in the freezer to cool my beverages.

Waiting for the Golden Pike Derby....boat will go in the water the day before. Till that time will be getting the lawn care equipment ready. I am also still putting a few more touches on the Kayak. Motor mount went on today. Yesterday finished the platform for the downrigger. If I only had the trolling motor....still on back order....grrrr. Only thing left after that is the 3 ft Canadian flag for visibility.....oops and still have to do the Fish Hawk.
