Sad news indeed! One of the originals.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Gord a couple of times.
One was an ice fishing expedition on Simcoe out of Shellswell Park when Gord, myself, Jerry and others walked out for a day of fishing. Can't remember how we did, but I know the company was good.
On another occasion I took Gord out in my boat off the 9th of Oro as he wanted to get into a big laker. It turned out to be a slow day and we only had one hookup. Gord had a big smile on his face as he played the fish, but unfortunately it came off about half way back to the boat. He was happy that at least he had one on. No fish to show for it, but at least an enjoyable day with good company.

I am so sad on hearing that Gord has passed away.....
Over the years, I got to meet him quite often at Meet and Greets and several times on my boat salmon fishing with his grandsons....(thanks for putting up pics Jerry)
I found Gord to be an amazing man, full of knowledge on every aspect of Simcoe and he had a great sense of humour.
I shall truly miss you old friend. you will not be forgotten

My sympathies to the family.

I went back to my fishing log and it was Aug.6, 2015 that we went out in my boat.
Saw Gord a number of time at M & G's.
Always a pleasure to see him and talk with him. He knew a lot of Lake Simcoe history, especially the East side and Thorah.

Very sad to learn of Gord's passing.
I enjoyed Gord's brilliant insight regarding Lake Simcoe, life on Thorah Island and fishing. In fact, we shared many private messages discussing and/or comparing life on Thorah and Snake Islands.
My thoughts go out to Gord's family and friends and I am confident they are all poorer for his loss.
