6am went crappie fishing for four hours. 1 degree snowy and beautiful trees covered. No people anywhere just fish. Shallow water with slip bobber and plastic baits. Was very lucky today caught around 75 and kept two dozen between 11 and 13 inches. Got lucky again because somebody cleaned the fish for me so I could have a nap after driving home have to work tonight. Wish I could have stayed all day fish were still hungry when I left. Going to have another bit of sleep now. Good luck and stay safe.

Thank you Lionel, just took a chance today. Last Friday drove fished and drove again with not great results. Got lucky this time drove up very early, fished drove back. The family said that was a waste of gas and money. My frozen fingers and the smile on my face says it was worth it. Good luck when you get out on Balsam, stay safe. Going to sleep now.

Nice going, CM! Congrats on a great fishing day and braving the cold. Patience and determination always pays off!
I am with you on not worrying about wasted gas. i know for myself that spending a day out fishing is worth every penny, regardless of whether you catch anything or not. Fish is just a nice bonus.

Thank you for the comments. Just fishing is always good enough. I have three spots, one on Sturgeon, one on Balsam and one on lake __X__ that I have never told anyone about. Those spots are for fishing by myself, and only fish them once in a while so that the fish will always be there. I don't even think that when I start my fish guiding business that those spots will be on the tour. There is so many good places to fish and take people to already.
