Getting ready for the golden eyes opener in zone 17 . Having my rods and lures checked and changing the fluo leaders for the fresh ones and sharpening some jig hooks. Have not decided where to go - choosing between Rice and Sturgeon. Is anyone else excited?

Jerkbaiter I can’t wait. I am caught up on my chores at home for now and trailer park opens Wednesday. We are heading up Thursday morning to open up and hope to be on the water on Friday. If we get into some fish it will be a bonus can’t wait to get the season started. Good luck out there and play safe

If you have luck and want to try something new.... try them this way. Add onions to a single bacon stip on each side of a Walleye fillet, then tightly wrap the fillets in foil, then toss them on the embers of a small fire..... perfect little snack. The only trouble cooking them this way is you will be looking for firewood all the time, instead of fishing....lol.

Traded the annual walleye opener in the Kawarthas for a trout trip in Algonquin this year, looking forward to the portaging and quiet of the park. Getting a few splake or specks would just be a bonus.
