Nice video, food looked great again. Those noises you heard at night were peeper frogs. They sound like birds, but in fact they are frogs. They help me stay awake at night with their singing.

that sound is loud. I had no idea what it was until couple years ago, when there was a show on TV about them. they called them forest frogs at least that all I remember.

When there is a few different kinds of frogs singing at the same time, it can get quite loud. When the frogs go silent in the night, that tells me there is a predator around. Raccoon or skunk as well as bigger animals that hunt in the dark. Coyote, wolves and bears love to eat frogs. I myself do not eat frogs.

IFIDA, good point. Usually, I build a firepit with rocks. This time, the ground was pretty wet. Even then, the fire was not unattended and I extinguished it just before nightfall using lake water. Thanks for pointing out the importance of fire safety.
