On May 13 - 18 our annual spring trip is going to happen after two years of postponement. We are doing the Lavielle Dickson loop and coming out on the famous Bonfield portage. We have two adults and five kids between the ages of 17 and 22.(holy crap I just realized they are not kids anymore). This is our 11th annual trip usually for speckles and Lakers. I hope to catch a personal best speckle on this trip…5 pounds or better. Counting down the days!!!!

Dickson is a great lake for specks. I use to do a very hard loop annually on the west side...the portages were not highly groomed. Fishing was fantastic (once we got past a certain distance, marked by a longish tough portage) - was able to always count on a few fish meals when planning our food schedule/menu. It should be fun...make the "kids" do most of the portaging....hard work being rewarded by good fun and fishing is always more satisfying and memorable than things that come easy...I agree. Photos of your trip would be great.

Lucky guy! Are you guys taking the cart trail or the portage? I've done both and would wholeheartedly recommend the cart trail lol. I think I need to book something now.

We don’t have a cart so we are taking the portage trail. Wanna give the kids the full experience. Thanks for the recommendation though.

We don’t pack in meat and count on fish for our meat. A couple trips we almost gained weight but one trip the water was too rough to get out and we starved. We have kids taking along cell phones as cameras so there should be no shortage of pictures. My daughter is especially good at recording everything with pictures.

That's gonna be a great trip and with the lakes basically shut down the last few years the fishing will be amazing. Enjoy and please post a report with some pics when you return.

Heading up this Friday to the park for some trout fishing, it's supposed to be a great week so the bugs should be out in full force. May bring a fly rod as well to see if the will hit surface for a fly. Will be sure to update on the success or lack of. Lol
