Train in wilderness fishing, Train in trips

Has anyone had first hand experience using the train on the Bud car ……being dropped off at a mile marker. Then picked up a week or so later at rail side

Sounds like an adventure that just made my todo list.

the train he is talking about i think are the bud cars that run from Sudbury to White River . Not sure what their service is like, they may drop you off anywhere and pick you up on specified days. I would call ahead to inquire. The picture in my post are the tracks that run by my buddies camp door, different rail line. Back in the 70's CN rail used to run a similar train between Capreol and Nakina and it would drop you anywhere and pick you up on specified days. Let me just say if you are not there at train time ,they are not waiting.Spent most of my teenage years on that train getting dropped off and picked up all along that line , great way to fish and hunt . Later in life during my 36 year railroad career i had the chance to work on that same train and have picked up many fisherman and hunters at locations along the way,also loading canoes , moose and coolers full of fish. I think it would be a great experience for anyone to try,it could certainly put you into some great spots if you know where to go.

Yep. Very cool. Got it on the bucket list. Actually, it would be worth to do short trips not far from the tracks until you get comfy with the arrangements, etc.

They still run the Bud car and i know the price really increased my friend use to pay $100 round trip and the last time he was quoted $250 with his gear.
Through the summer i see the train pick a guy up with all his gear at the end of my road in Azilda which is 10 km outside of Sudbury

Thank you grampa. Im 67. And was thinking of taking a 10 ft john boat with a 2 hp Now what are your thoughts. Like you said now i need to pick the right lake. Iwould like to target pike.

Are you thinking winter or summer?

I'm almost positive the Polar Bear express to Moosonee also drops people off along that route.

grampa, I watched your Budd Car video. How could you NOT want to give that try if you enjoy the peace & quiet of our great outdoors...No ski-doo's or other noise - heaven....wow!!
