Hey all. Moved out to port hope back in March. Noticed they have a nice looking public boat launch but haven’t really seen anyone launch there yet.what’s the fishing like out from port hope? Do most guys go troll around cobourg? I usually fished the bluffs but don’t know that I feel like doing that drive every weekend now lol

You have moved to one great fishing area.
I can’t give you specifics but I would be out rigging now as water temps are good and there are fish around most other parts only the lake. I have been fishing Port Credit and doing well but mostly no one else it out there yet.
Just have to be first sometimes. 👍🏻

Well that’s exciting! Any idea if there’s any drop offs around port hope/cobourg? Or is it more of a gradual decent and flat? Spoons always worked well for me at bluffers with the odd smash on a meat rig. Any other pieces of advice for this part of the lake?

It is kinda strange to me that if it’s so hot out here, where’s all the boats? Or do most guys just launch out of cobourg? I’ve seen a sign at the public boat launch at port hope that talked about paying for truck and trailer parking, just haven’t spotted out exactly where that parking is. Any insight?

I really can’t speak directly about your area for fishing right now but I can tell you Port Credit is a zoo later on in the season but empty right now. Somehow I catch fish with no one around. I know from seeing it that Port Hope is a zoo a month from now yet I bet fish are around and biting now. Spoon bite is pretty reliable. Give it a try and experiment. Best advise I ever got was to start with one of everything every day and let the fish tell you what they want to eat.

Not sure about this year but they have to dredge the mouth so boats can get out without dragging the motors thru the sand that builds up. I usually go out along the stone wall. Every year is different. I launch at the Cobourg marina and cruise the area. Fishing will start picking up mid to late June.

Was out this morning caught 2 Rod shakers, fished between 80 fow to 120fow. Any tips what the big guys are hitting? What depths they’re liking?
