Our family went to the cottage for a week of vacation and fishing.
We loaded canoes on four wheelers and went into a back lake for opening day bass. This lake has a great population of largemouths. We casted Big O’s and rapalas and the fish were gobbling them up. We fished for a full morning and landed over 70 of all sizes from 4 inches to 4.5 pounds. We kept a couple for a nice fish fry and returned the rest.
A couple days later we tried another backlake with similar results. This day however was windy and it was tough controlling the canoe but the fish would hit right at the boat. At one point my line was just dangling overboard and a fish took the lure right out of the air. Thanks to some quick reflexes we grabbed the rod before it went over board.
The next couple days we fished our cottage lake. One evening we went out and trolled up a couple pike around 7 pounds each. They are always exciting!!
Water skiing, four wheeling, odd jobs, and a little painting rounded out the rest of the week. What a great start to summer!
