Just wondering if someone could help me out with a little info. Is the Boumanville launch still open and in reasonable shape Any fees or parking issues? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info….appreciate it. We fished there in the early 90’s for the entire month of July and had some good days. Thought I might try it again but I’ll have to launch elsewhere.

talked to town of clarington and this is the answer i got about bowmanville launch Bowmanville Boat Launch and parking lot rehabilitation moved to 2023 budget The Bowmanville Boat Launch will remain closed until repair work can be completed in 2023. The boat launch closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and has remained closed as it is not safe for public use. The work will include accessibility improvements and overall rehabilitation of the launch. Work on restoring the Bowmanville Boat Launch has been delayed because of the rising cost of construction due to inflation, material and labour shortages and the rising cost of oil. The Municipality must also follow the guidelines and restrictions for in-water works set out by the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry. These restrictions are in place to protect fish from the impact of any work during critical times, including spawning migrations. The additional funding will be included in the 2023 budget, and, pending approval, work to repair the boat launch is set to begin in July 2023. just more bull they spend all kinds of money on the dog park

Thanks for looking into the launch closure. I had to laugh….they are blaming the closure on everything from soup to nuts. I’m surprised alien invasion,Putin invasion of Ukraine and gender equality didn’t make the list. Thanks again for the info.

found this in the durham post its probably why they cant afford to build the boat launch
Green light for Newcastle park despite $2.38m cost overrun July 11, 2022DP StaffNo Comments Clarington has announced it is moving forward with the construction of Phase 1 of the Newcastle Community Park, despite increased cost due to inflation.
The park is located directly southwest of the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex.
The cost of the Newcastle Community Park construction exceeds the allocated budget by $2,387,64.79, said a Clarington report.
In 2020, council approved a $1.5 million budget for the construction of Phase 1, including illuminated tournament quality sports fields and a skateboard park.
As a result of community feedback and recommendations made in the 2020 Outdoor Recreation Needs Assessment Study, the scope and the vision for the new park has changed to include illuminated baseball, pickleball and tennis facilities along with the newly completed skateboard park, site furnishings, plantings, and pathways, said a Clarington Council report.
With the changed scope for this park and the rising cost of construction due to inflation, material and labour shortages and the rising cost of oil, council has approved a larger budget to ensure this project is completed. The Newcastle Community Park is largely funded through development charges that have been or will be collected through new growth in Clarington.
Construction is anticipated to start in September.
the launch was in that condition for many years and used by boaters and now they need to repair it (which is good) but cannot find the budget for it and it's now closed??? What a shame.

I totally agree. If they knew it was deteriorating why wasn’t it put in the budget to fix it years ago so by the time it was serious enough to close it the money would be there for repair. Seems simple but I’m just a fisherman.
On a brighter note we fished out of Promenade which is a gorgeous facility with lots of free parking. Thanks Hazel…that’s what I call foresight. It’s also why everyone should vote for politicians that fish.
