Minnows and crayfish love to hide in small and large culverts. From shore or in a boat the areas around culverts can be a gold mine for catching fish. At certain times of the day and all night that culvert will be loaded with minnows. Big fish know this and cruise in for an easy meal. If you fish that spot again try and stay off to the side where you parked as to not scare the fish away. Cast in the area of the culvert at dusk and into the night. I bet you will catch a monster walleye. Watch out for the bugs and bears at night. Caught these three at a spot similar to where you were fishing. They were searching for the minnows I spoke of at night. 26.5...23.5...22.5 inches. I don't know what hazards are up there fishing at night so make sure you don't put yourself in harms way. I carry 2 head lamps and a back up flash light, BUG SPRAY, BEAR SPRAY. I use an air horn for unwanted wildlife just because it lasts longer, but I really should carry both. Good luck and stay safe.
