I posted this in another thread and thought it would be cool to see everyone's old lures that Grandpa/Dad swore by!

To start it off, the trusty ole' Daredevil!

Gramps swore this was the only lure you needed when trollin'

Do you still use those devils, we called them red devils when I was young. Pulled these out of the bottom drawer. The 2 jerk baits on the left are 40 years old some of the spoons are a bit older. Before I was a teenager we usually just used worms, minnows, crayfish, and leeches. And on the east coast with my grandfather, we used clams and sand eels.

Those old Rapala jerkbaits were my Grandfather's favorite. He had a couple of the black and silver and a couple of the black and gold. That's all he would bring fishing. He definitely caught his share of fish when we were out.

Haha, great pics and thanks for sharing. Yep, I have my fair share of those Rapalas handed down to me from my pops!

I would imagine we are all cut from that same cloth....we all have lures given to us by our parents and don't use them for fear of losing them.

Instead, my new Cabelas Magnum tackle bag (with 8x3700 plastic cases) now weighs about 25 lbs, yet I use about 10 different baits max.....and my wife laughs. I get it.

I still have most of my heirloom lures my Dad gave me....several "Pikey Minnows" (jointed and straight) and a bunch of "River Runts" from the late 50's, early 60's. They haven't seem water in at least 25yrs. Guess my grandkids will get them.
Can't believe the price for an original Pikey Minnows on e-Bay...wow!

Cheers,

Posted this picture last fall. It would be a drag to lose a very old lure but if they work I use them. On a different day last year I caught two muskie back to back on my favourite walleye crank bait. The whole time I was begging the fish to fall off the hook. Did not lose the lure, got lucky. After replacing two leaders I put the crank bait away for the night. LOL.

Lol. I have so many different Benos. Whenever I see them at a flea market of garage sale I buy them up.

That is some collection of Beno lures. Why are Beno lures more sought after than Canadian Wiggler. Beno was started in the 60s in the U.S.A. and Wiggler in the 40s in Canada. I have two old wigglers and no Beno lures. Is the Beno a better lure. Just curious if anyone knows.

Lol. I won't even use them, I wouldn't want to loose one at this point. I also have a pretty good collection of falt fish that I've retired and or purchased at flea markets. We used to rig them up with worms and troll with them.
