Spent 4 days in the bush recently. We boated up the lake about 15km, and found a nice beach camp site. Had some pretty good weather, and a couple nice sunsets. Also got into quite a downpour and spent a few hours sitting in lawn chairs under the tarps, and got thoroughly soaked on our departing trip down the lake in a warm, steady rain. I was running taxi service, went back down the lake to pick up some other family, and also took them back to the dock a couple days later - and we just enjoyed hanging around the site - so not much fishing went on. Total time spent trolling for lakers was around 2.5 hrs. I got an eater sized one in the first 5 minutes, then got my daughter and father in law onto a small one each.

Really sounds like a great trip, some times the rain makes it more memorable.

Boat camping is great. Couple prime crown land lakes have recently been privatized in my area…. It’s a shame. Still some spots around if you know where to look. Looks like a fantastic time. Personally, I love humongous thunder storms when camping in the summer… I don’t get enough of them. I like to have to pull off the lake and setup a quick tarp and hunker down for 20 min… makes great memories.
