Keep practicing! Lol
Wish I could practice everyday. Practice makes perfect. I do get your humour though. Very funny Ha Ha Ha. Too bad I am not retired then could practice every day.

Well done CM! A solid response to dbFish.
I am smoking nervously in the corner with my 12.5" yesterday looking at the battle of titans
That's a good one RM. Maybe we should have a crappie tournament or a TV show all about crappie. We could have a different guest every week. And they all would have a different way of fishing for crappie. Crappie fishermen are like finger prints......no two are the same.
Sounds good, but I am in a different league now. Let me get by PB to 14-15" first

those are some nice fish there. It amazes me how different small walleye are at times. I have a personal limit of at least 15", but have kept some 14 that are bigger then a 16, at least it seems like that.

You are exactly right some fish are fatter than others. The walleye slot in zone 17 is 13.8 to 19.7 inches to bring home. I start keeping them at 16 inches, I did keep one this year that was 14 inches because the walleye swallowed my crank bait. I just hate killing a fish that should have been much bigger, but that happens sometimes. Crappie I keep 11 inches or bigger as a rule. I released aprox. 20 Friday night that were 11 to 13 inches and kept those 6 because there was still a bunch in the freezer.

Great job Crappeeeman. Those are some quality crappie and a good bunch of walleye. All the walley i get on balsam are nice 16-19” but in the slot so i rarely get to keep any. I have got some fat ones just under 14.5. There are lost of schools of perch so no need for them to be skinny

I am glad you mentioned the slot size for Balsam lake. Thank you. I still meet people fishing that don't know that you can't keep the medium size walleye. And the limit for walleye is only S-3 and C-1. The regulations state it clearly...NONE BETWEEN...NONE MEANS NONE. Here is the section that says NONE BETWEEN.

Some nice slabs there Cman
Thank you, got lucky at night. Everything came together well, full moon and almost no wind. Nice and cool temperatures so no mosquitoes, and the fish were very hungry. I could not have asked for a better night of fishing from mother nature. Wish it was like that every night.

Great to see you fishing (and catching) again
Liked your post on ice fishing already. Good idea to ask questions way ahead of time. There are so many people on here that can help out when people have questions. I am looking forward to the cold nights of Sept. Oct. and November. That is my favourite time to fish at night when it is only 2 to 10 degrees. No bugs, no boat traffic, hopefully no wind and lots of hungry fish.

Haven't had any time to go fishing and was hoping that I could at least get a little bit of ice fishing in during a planned trip up there but never ice fished up there before. I completely agree. I much prefer the cooler weather than the hot summers. No bugs, no sweating through my clothes and usually fewer people out fishing too. Just overall more comfortable and enjoyable and quieter....and often times, better fishing too.
