Well it was November weather last night. Cold and very windy went down to 1 degree and wind was gusting to over 30kph. Started fishing at 7pm didn't quite make to sunrise this time. Big Crappie, Bass and Walleye were hungry the cold front didn't seem to affect the fish yet maybe tonight might be different we will see. Only saw one boat with three guys in it no life jackets on. I yelled over to them to put on a life jacket and they laughed...OH WELL I am not a baby sitter. The fishing was great again. Very lucky this year on finding hungry fish. Caught seven walleye all keepers but only kept one because there is two in the fridge for dinner tonight. Some big crappie and a couple of big small mouth bass kept one of each. All fish were about eight feet down sitting on the bottom. All caught on crank baits silver and gold. Going back out in a couple of hours here is a picture of the fish.

Thank you for the feedback. Was not quite as cold last night fished until sunrise again. First the moon rose and the sun followed.

Going home a night early too tired to fish anymore. Can't believe I just said that.LOL. Skunked on walleye and crappie last night. I did not even have one hit on my line from a walleye or a crappie. Just bass and rock bass last night and one blue gill. Here is a picture of two fat bass. Our walleye dinner was great I always forget to take a picture of the fish on the BBQ. Try and remember next time.

Going home now. Fished 37 hours in three nights after coming off night shift. Next time I will sleep more. LOL. I Think the sudden cold weather got me this time. It went from 28 degrees to 1 or 2 degrees in roughly 12 hours.

What lake do you fish for crappie. Maybe I can be of some assistance. I only fish Sturgeon and Balsam but I can give you some guidance on what to look for. I will look at a chart and find some similarities. Might help a bit.

This is so weird. I took this picture Aug 13 at 5.09am a half mile away from the picture I just posted. Only difference is that is a star in this picture, and the other is the moon rising just before sunrise Saturday at 6.41am. I love watching the sunrise after fishing all night. I should have started taking more pictures a long time ago.

The picture is great, you should take more , not So much people can see the sunrise everyday in the early morning. It is my first time fish at Balsam lake in last five years, I usually fishing at lake scugog, so I don’t know much about Balasm lake, it is very strange and more challenges for me, if you don’t mind share any experiences or tips will be great, I appreciate it,we fishing at west Bay Area of Balsam yesterday, may go to try again next weekend, thanks CM!

CM you will need a rest after all that fishing and the drop in temperature is hard on the body. Looks like you did very well and had some nice meals. I fished Saturday got 4 walleye and 4 bass, biggest walleye was 18”. Bass were not big lost a big walleye. They were not that aggressive , i guess the incoming weather may have affected them. I ended up getting all the fish on a slip bobber and worm, who would have thought but it did the trick. Fished for and hour in the evening and got nothing but one good hit. It is now raining so i wont be out likely until Wednesday i hope. Thanks for your post and updates

My advice is go on you tube and punch in...( Balsam lake fishing ) There is many videos on fishing the lake. Will try and do better at describing catching these fish when posting a report. When you get enough posts you can PM me if you have a question. Most of my fishing is done at night. When I go back up in just over a week, will start fishing at around lunch time and fish until sunrise. The trick is lots of sleep the night before then just stay up. The reason I say this is that is over 18 hours of straight fishing. Sometimes the fish are hungry sometimes they are not. If someone goes out 4 times for four hours each time, they should catch fish 3 out 4 trips I would think. I just put 4 trips into one night. LOL. Wednesday and Thursday night the fishing was great. Friday night was out there a long time and the fishing was not as great. I work 12 hour night shifts plus travel time so every week sleep from 7.30am until 1.30pm. My fishing hours emulate my work hours. The best way to get new intelligence on fishing is to use this fishing forum. So many years of experienced people telling fishing tales. Take the time to read the members posts and previous posts on what you are interested in. I have read way back on some of these peoples posts because we have the same interests. I literally HATE to read, but find myself reading more since joining the fishing forum. Also have made a few new friends since joining two years ago. Before joining the fishing forum, there was the odd picture taken over 50 years of fishing. Looking back now at the undocumented memories of all my adventures is regretful. Not just fishing, but drag racing my Harley, or camping with friends. Joining the fishing forum was a great idea, hope you get a lot out of it as well.
