Took a quick trip out this morning to a local lake for some pike. This particular lake is gin clear, super deep and more of a trout lake, not known for numbers of pike but does have a decent average size.

Third cast of the day and this big girl rocketed out from a laydown and sucked in a swimbait right by the boat. Sure is fun to see those giant gills flare out as your lure totally disappears

Was a healthy, fat 42”er, that fought well.
Had one other follow about 30” and that was it for pike, so I hit a couple offshore humps on the way back to the ramp and caught a bunch of fat smallmouth on a dropshot just for fun.

In the net, she swam off like she hadn’t even been hooked.

Awesome, beautiful fish. Not many things better than pulling a big pike out of clear water.

Love the picture of the pike in the water. I like to take those pictures as well. Then the pike usually takes off for one more run after the picture. There is just something about seeing a big pike slice by you on the top of the water. Then disappear and take off with your line peeling off the reel and your drag screaming. I can almost here it now. Great report thank you, now I am looking forward to getting rained on all night tomorrow.
