You can buy this curing powder:

http://www.basspro.com/AtlasMikes-Shake-N-.../product/77957/

There are others available in most tackle shops.
Borax also works well..

I've used Borax with cherry jello, turned out good. And as Admin said there are a bunch of cures that you can get from tackle shops. Pro cure is a good one.
Cheers!

I usually just give them a good river washing in a zip lock bag or water bottle.

Then when I get home I lay them down on a baking sheet or paper towel to dry for a

few hours. Before I freeze them I get another sheet of paper towel and gently roll

them . Now they are ready to freeze. Put them in a zip lock bag flat in the freezer.

DOn't stack them on top of each other. I like doing it this way because it keeps them

nice and Natural smelling. When your ready to fish the night before just take them

out to defrost and in a few minutes there ready to tie up .

Salmon Eggs Defrosting.

Natural Cure I did.

Nope they seem to hold up pretty good . You may have to change it every so often .

I find I have better hook ups when cured this way Naturally . Everyone has their

own way . I always cured this way and it works. Also the cheapest way to do it.

lol.

Loose eggs . I had them flat freezing in the freezer . Then when they were getting

defrosted I just piled them on top of each other. Should have taken a better picture.

Just took it to tease a friend that night because he had to work the next day . loll

I like the water hardening idea but i leave them in water from the river for about 4 days . They only fully water harden if they are mature eggs loose of the skien.Eggs that you scrape out of the skien wont fully water harden and i have a borax recipe i use for these. i did not manage a hen this year with loose eggs so the one i got i had to borax her eggs.

I think if you get fresh trout roe this time of year it will not be mature . Still small eggs tight in the skien. Im not sure if fishing with these eggs is any good ive never tried them

I know everyone has their different methods and knows what works best for them. Ithink having confidence in what you do is key.

I've tried lots of different ways. My roe never comes in contact with water until I am fishing with it. I clean the blood out of the eggs and air dry to desired consistency. If I want to keep some in the fridge for a couple months I either use borax or a little shake and cure and borax if i want to add a little colour.

I was talking about curing eggs last weekend with an old timer that does very well fishing. He told me the eggs are best the way they come out of the fish au naturel. If you can find a way to preserve them a bit longer without screwing them up you're ahead of the game...

Anyway just my 2 cents

Thanks for all the feedback! I think i will try to do a natural cure. Iv heard that if you can keep your eggs soft so that they break when a fish takes it, the more fish you will catch. Im not sure if that makes a difference or not nut ill give it a shot.
