Looking to get out for some fall perch out on Cooks. I have never fished open water on Cooks but have ice fished 100’s of time on the hard water. How is the lake out of Cooks Bay Marina with a South or South East wind? My boat can handle most conditions but we were thinking of bringing the kayaks.

Wind out of the South is going to be ok on Cooks depending on where you are and how hard it’s blowing. Same with East and West winds honestly. The closer to the shore you are to where the wind is blowing from the more protected you will be. I will be out there tomorrow and expect 8-12” inches of chop in the morning.

Thanks gentlemen. I decided to bring the boat and not the kayak. More room and more comfortable for a full day of fishing. Going on Thursday morning and was wondering if Cooks Bay Marina or Monto Reno Marina has the better launch and parking? Is there a place to get minnows in the event the perch are not active? Thanks again.
