[Saturday Nov 26] kayak fished...

kayak fished a few hours on a lake in Muskoka area around noon today. No ice along shoreline. It was a bit too windy on the lake, though. No fish marked. But it was still nice to have had some time on the water:-)

Yes, just amazing weather to still be fishing. I was out most of the night fishing. It would have been nice to fish in the sun today but had to get back quick. Your kayak has everything, what a machine. Too bad about the fish not cooperating, but at least you are out there enjoying the last day of warmth.

I saw the wind and decided to stay home. This late in the fall the whitefish are not where they were in the winter spring and summer, sandy back bays and flats 35-50fow is where I’ve been finding them. They are probably mid spawn on most lakes and likely hold in deeper waters near spawning grounds. They come up at night and spawn in a foot of water in the sand and on the beeches, sometimes river run, then go back to relatively deeper waters during the day. The ones I got Nov 10 still had not spawned yet.

Now we wait for ice ….
At this time of year do you wear a dry suit? Or a floater suit? Wouldn’t last long if one were to fall into the icey waters.

I did fish yesterday mostly around 30 to 35 fow, and also tried around 10 to 15 fow (where I usually would get some whitefish), but didn't mark any fish at all.

I was wearing dry (or semi-dry, pant and jacket separated, that is) suit, though.

And yes it was too windy. I anchored down, but still couldn't hold the kayak at spot due to strong wind and current.

Think my kayak fishin' this season is finally over, and I am awaiting for ice fish, and oh yeah I am right now at this very moment about to head out to Mississauga for some time at the Ultimate Ice Fishing Show 2022 (last day of the show), that is:-)
